Employment
Oct. 1996-Oct. 2000 Professional Research Assistant, University Of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado
Conducted research on RNA dependent polymerase; Telomere binding protein, RAP1; and recombinant protein purifications schemes of human Telomerase. Used techniques such as T7 transcriptions, gene cloning, filter binding assays, gel shift assays, and HPLC analysis. Developed and optimized activity and binding assays for the characterization of Poliovirus polymerase and RAP1. Worked on various protein purification schemes using numerous bacterial strains and plasmid vectors. Maintained laboratory stocks, bacterial cell strains and oversaw the safe handling and disposal of radioactive materials.

March 1994-July 1996 Lab Technician, University of California, Santa Barbara, California
Conducted genetic survey for previously unrecognized genes required for growth and patterning in the Drosophila wing. Solely responsible for identifying and following genetic markers through multiple generations. Used techniques such as; DNA minipreps, Gel electrophoresis, Southern Hybridization and Bacterial vectors. Trained in the safe handling and disposal of radioactive materials.

Feb. 1992-Nov. 1993 Lab Technician , Wyatt Technology, Santa Barbara, California
Analyzed an array of both proteins and polymers with the use of multi angle laser light scatters. Responsibilities included: use and maintenance of both aqueous and organic HPLC systems, scientific report writing, and customer service. Directly responsible for the training of new customers. Used a variety of scientific instruments including refractive index detectors, UV detectors and gradient flow systems.

May 1991-Oct. 1991. Research Assistant , American Rivers, Washington, D.C.
Summer internship for a environmental non profit lobby. Duties included formal report writing, and maintaining membership correspondence. Developed a research program focusing on energy conservation and hydropower.

Sep. 1990- Dec. 1990 Laboratory Assistant , Boulder Water Quality Labs, Boulder, Colorado
Worked on the development of efficient and accurate procedures to measure entrained air in drinking water. Duties included field research and data entry . Researched and provided reports on various water filters and flow systems for water transport.
