Prospective Pharmacology and Toxicology graduate students will be visiting UC Davis on March 10 and 17. We will be holding a luncheon in the Foster Room, 1138 Meyer Hall, beginning at 11:45 AM. We encourage all faculty and current PTX graduate students to attend. (2/25/08)
One of the highlights of the year is the initial orientation and reception for new students. Prior to the beginning of classes, PTX advisors and the group chair meet with new students to introduce the program and to give new students a chance to meet informally and become settled into the program. A few days later we have a formal dinner reception for all faculty and students in the program. A few of the more senior students give short scientific presentations and new students get a chance to meet faculty and more senior students in an informal setting. This emphasizes one of the strengths of the PTX graduate program-namely the close working relationship between student and faculty that is, in our view, essential for the educational process to convert talented students into well trained scientists.
