The University of California, Davis , Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) is one of 18 Environmental Health Centers around the country funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Center is dedicated to interdisciplinary research on the effects of the environment on human health.

Just a few of the things we study are: pesticides, dioxins, cancer, development, Alzheimer's, estrogen, skin diseases, air pollution. Under the direction of Dr. Alan Buckpitt , the Davis CEHS takes an interdisciplinary approach to research in human epidemiology, target organ toxicity, biomarkers of exposure and effects and mechanisms of toxics. Established in 1992 in recognition of UC Davis' research excellence in the environmental and agricultural arenas, the Davis Center currently consists of 32 faculty investigators and affiliate scientists , and their staff and students in thirteen different departments. The theme of our Center is "Environmental Health Problems at the Urban/Agricultural Interface."
