Since joining the team at Granite Canyon in 2005, Jennifer Voorhees has been involved with research for PRISM, SWAMP, and the Department of Fish and Game's OSPR program. She also serves as the Safety Officer for the facility. Jennifer began her toxicology career in 1998 with ToxScan, Inc. Her work involved all phases of aquatic toxicity testing for the Army COE, NOAA, Bechtel, the San Francisco Airport, and the Bolsa Chica wetlands development projects. In 2003, on a 2-year hiatus from toxicology, she was Culture Manager at Reed Mariculture, Inc., a large scale marine microalgae culture facility producing feed for sales to shrimp, finfish, and bivalve hatcheries worldwide. She has also volunteered 9 years and more than 3500 hours at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as a volunteer guide and mentor and as a husbandry assistant working with the penguins and jellies.
