Dr. Witschi's principal interest is to study cell turnover in the lungs of animals exposed to common air pollutants such as ozone or nitrogen dioxide. Of particular interest is to define effects of low level exposure and to study events leading to adaptation. Additional work focuses on the effects of environmental tobacco smoke on intrauterine growth and lung tumor development.
